- Gates: What will you bring into the fenced area that will need to come through a gate? Please let us know if you have a specialty lawnmower or other equipment or toys that need to be brought through the gates.
- Materials: Does your Homeowners Association have specifications on the types of fencing materials that are allowable in your subdivision? The selection of fence materials often varies based on the purpose of your fence.
Installation Considerations
- Do you have private, underground cabling or pipes? Always let us know if you have private cabling or piping systems, such as an irrigation system. While we will verify public utilities prior to digging, we are unable to identify private networks.
- Property lines need to be properly identified by a surveyor. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to identify property lines. If, after installation, it is discovered that your fence was installed outside of your property lines, moving the fence will be at the homeowner’s expense.
Do you install the posts in concrete?
Yes, there are multiple options depending on the surface type. We can utilize brackets or anchors to mount any type of fence to a concrete surface. It is also possible to drill a hole in your concrete pad to set the posts, then fill it back in with concrete. Our technicians can assess the method best suited for your needs on site and review the options with you before beginning installation.
Should a fence installer have a contractor’s license?
Absolutely! Any business that conducts any form of construction on a client’s property must have proper licensing. All of our expert technicians are certified, licensed and insured in accordance with state and local law.
Should I ask for proof of insurance? What type of insurance should an installer have?
At the minimum, any business operating on your property should be covered by general liability insurance to protect all parties involved in the event of accidental damage, injury, or destruction of property. It’s a good practice to ask for proof of insurance before having anyone perform any type of work on your property.
Another company quoted me a much lower price. How is that possible?
There are many variables that go into quoting a fencing project, and no two quotes will likely be the same. It’s possible for other companies to source untreated, lower-quality materials that don’t offer the same level of durability and weather resistance that our products provide. Does the warranty really matter on fencing?
Warranties are important for covering normal wear and tear, chipping, peeling, blistering, damage by pests or weather discoloration. Manufacturers warranties cover specific materials or hardware used in the construction of your fence, and we also include a contractor’s warranty that covers the labor involved in completing your project.
Do I need a 6’ fence to keep my dog from jumping?
Although our recommendation may change depending on the breed of dog and layout of your property, a 6-foot fence is generally sufficient for almost all circumstances. In the event that even a 6-foot fence isn’t enough, we can also install extensions or guards to help keep your pet from being able to clear the fence.
Are there special requirements for pool fences?
State regulations in Tennessee require that pools must be enclosed by a barrier that is at least 48 inches tall, clearance between the bottom of the fence and the ground must be no more than 2 inches, and the fence must not have any footholds that would potentially allow a child to climb over the fence. We also provide extra security features such as self-latching, key-locked, and self-closing gates.
